The sacraments of healing have always been very spiritual and have many key symbols towards it especially in today’s world. The sacraments have a long history, some even longer than the 2000 years of the Catholic Church (Onenote, 2015). When receiving reconciliation in the church, key symbols include candles, a holy cross and the reconciliation colour which is made up of black, gold, red, white and blue (Onenote, 2015). These colours are based on the colours from the aboriginal and European flags red being the most important. Whilst anointing of the sick key symbols are holy water, reading from the gospel and holy oil on the sick that anoints them. Both the sacraments of healing have their own rituals that are sacred and have played a massive part in the reconciliation or anointing ceremonies in the past and very much today.
